Prom Dresses

High school academic years, though considered by students as the end of an
era of mixed experiences and feelings, find completion through the formal dance
that’s held at the end. Promenade, or in a rather short form, Prom, is an event,
the roots of which lie in the late nineteenth century practice of Promenade
Ball, which, together with the end of year Graduation Ball tradition, gave rise
to the concept.
Unless a prom carries some theme, boys usually dress in black Tuxedos with
brightly colored cummerbunds or vests, though any sort of formal wear is allowed
to be worn. Matching boutonnieres or extra adornments accompany the tuxedoes,
whereas girls take much pleasure in flaunting the traditional, formal gowns
and/or dresses that often come adorned with corsages.
Being one of the most important occasions in the life of every student, prom
dresses need careful choosing; it is said that the perfect prom dresses are just
not dresses but a manifestation that blends evenly the feelings of wonder,
beauty and being normal and elegant. And that requires a lot of technique, for
cash alone can’t deliver the best.
If not accompanied by an appropriate make-up, even the most gorgeous dress
may appear bland. But the keyword is to look natural and not made-up. Thus, a
matte face with smoky, mysterious eyes, and full, glossy, pouted lips is the
safest option and goes well with image of the fashionable women in the earlier
decades of the 20th century when similar dressing styles ruled the roost. A
light pink tint on the cheeks instead of a full-out blush is thus going to
complement the overall look and so shall softly powdered eyebrows instead of
pencils that impart the harsh look. Lip liners must be avoided unless the harsh
look is intended.
What remains now is choosing the right dress. Tuxedos do not pose much
problem regarding finding the right one, what seems more problematic is the
selection of the formal wear for women. The trend for a prom night is to get
dressed according to the current trend in formal wear; magazines and/or websites
are aplenty to fuel the fire. A few styles are immortal, like the strapless,
halter-top and cowl-neck in the form of evening gowns. Colors are usually chosen
on the bolder side but since it’s freedom from every confinement; therefore,
reds and vibrant blues co-exist peacefully with the subtle tie-dyed and sequined
trends. Fun, Fashion, Beauty and Dreams being the keywords, prom dresses can be
just about anything that the wearer wants, but care has to be taken that the
apparel must suit the respective figure and the physique. For women, it is a
rule of thumb to appear feminine, formal…but a bridesmaid style should be kept
at bay. And for that, what’s recommended is an intelligent shopping method
instead of just finding a good bargain.
An ability to differentiate between quality fashions and gaudiness is
considered a plus when it comes to choosing the right prom dresses. Workmanship
and fabric quality plays a special role, though that doesn’t mean that the most
expensive ones are the best. As mentioned before, body-type plays a significant
role; therefore, depending emotionally on what magazines and fashion ramps
exhibit are going to turn the sweet dreams into worst nightmares. A logical
thinking and a keen eye towards the Manufacturing process; the Fabric; and the
fit are considered the three Aces that can make you trump your prom night.
