Prom Hairstyles
Article by Amanda Cruz, PromFriend.com
Hair makes a woman more feminine and elegant. Prom night is considered to be
one of the most important nights in the life of a teenager after high school.
Everyone desires to look good and impressive on such an important event. Your
prom hairstyle should heighten your features, make up as well as the dress that
you are wearing. There is no standard that one can follow to look good but one
should be stylized according to ones own features and tastes. Hairstyles are an
important component in the way that you prepare yourself.
Prom hairstyles come in short, long and up do styles. Short hair is easy to
do and in very short time. You simply need to apply some wax so that it frames
your face to perfection. This will look very sophisticated and chic. You can
also sweep it away from your face by pinning them at the on to the sides with
pretty and delicate clips. This would compliment the dress that you are wearing
if you would take care to match them. There are various accessories also that
you can buy to coordinate with your dress.
Medium length hair can also be made interesting to look at. This is because
it is very flexible and can be made to look long or short according to your
choice. To make your hair look shorter, take small sections and twirl them
towards the back of your head. Pin the loose strands if you are planning to make
a ponytail. The pieces that you have twirled, tease the ends to create cute
flicks. If you want to make your hair look longer attach a good quality fake
ponytail with your ponytail.
Long hair allows you the independence to choose any hairstyle that you want.
Leaving your hair open can have a wonderful cascade like appearance. Remember to
make it look sleek, soft and it should impart a shine. If your hair naturally
has body you can curl it up. You can make several plaits and put them together
in the form of a bun. This would look like a crown.
For those who have curly hair, the soft tendrils get along well if you wear
an off shoulder dress. This is indeed a special look that can be achieved by
those who do not have them naturally. You can use a heat protective spray, and
carefully curl the ends of the hair into traditional ringlets. This would create
a definite impact as it looks really cute and romantic to have curls around your
face.
In whatever manner you choose to stylize your hair there are some basic rules
that you need to remember the golden rules. You should make sure that your hair
looks bouncy, vibrant and healthy. Loading your hair with lots of hair spray
makes it look too artificial. Hair, which has got too much of styling products
always looks crusty and dull. Make up and hair should be able to compliment the
way that you look naturally.
The first thing you need to decide is whether or not you are going to have
your hair professionally done, or if you are going to do it yourself. If you
choose to have your hair professionally done, your best choice would be to
purchase a hair magazine, or search the Internet for pictures of a variety of
hairstyles. Once you have selected the prom hairstyle that you would like, clip
it out and take it with you to the hairdressers so you can give them a perfect
example of your desired look. It would be wise to go to a hairdresser with whom
you are comfortable with; you will want to trust the stylist in charge of your
hair. If you choose to have your hair done professionally be prepared to pay
anywhere between 30$-70$ for it. You will also want to remember to bring your
hair accessory with you when you go, so your hairdresser can apply it as a
finishing touch. Make your appointment at least two weeks in advance, that way
you will ensure your appointment.
